Healthy children are happy children
Christmas is just a breath away and more time is spent at home with our loved ones. So it’s an opportunity to think, if we have not already done so, how to shape the children’s room into a safe and healthy environment as it is one of the main places where our children dream, have fun, create, learn and grow.
Room orientation
It is important that the children’s room “gets” enough natural light from the sun. So it will be bright until late-afternoon hours and warm throughout the day. Also with the sun, dampness can be avoided, which is unhealthy for the human body and especially for children, as it can cause allergies and respiratory problems up to chronic serious diseases.
Good ventilation of the room is also important. Every day, open the windows and doors for at least 15 minutes to ventilate the room to fill it with fresh air.
Walls
The wall decoration of each room is important, especially in the children’s bedroom, since we want our little ones to be in a space that inspires them. The painting of the walls can be done with ecological paints that are non-toxic and do not contain harmful substances, keeping the room’s environment safe.
Also, pay attention how you attach small furniture on the walls! All shelves and decoration should be well-fixed and large furniture, such as bookcases, etc., are best to be fixed on the floor/walls and not remain as free-standing.
Christmas Decoration
We all become children again this time of year!
The Christmas tree, the ornaments, the beautiful decorations exude warm and happiness and equip our home with wonderful festive moments. However, we must be careful how we decorate, especially if we have crawling babies or toddlers at home. Especially in the children’s room, it is best to place all the ornaments and accessories high enough that small children cannot reach.
Christmas Toys
Holiday gifts are plentiful and we parents enjoy seeing our children rejoice when they un-wrap them. Children spent significant amount with all their toys and to ensure your children’s safety, be certain that their toys are not made of hazardous materials or toxic substances and are from reputable companies that test their products and get them approved
Beds and Furniture
It is important that the furniture in the children’s room is made of safe, natural materials. This is especially true for children’s beds, as it is the place where they spend at least 8 hours.
Therefore it is wise to choose furniture with European certifications. Also, for even greater safety, it is best to prefer furniture with ergonomic design that is tested in every detail to avoid minor injuries and accidents.
